Every Friday I tell myself the same thing.
“This weekend I’ll finally catch up on everything on my watchlist.”
And every Sunday night I’m somehow left with…
…an even longer watchlist.
New releases arrive faster than I can keep up.
Some are genuinely brilliant.
Some are… let’s just say they looked better in the trailer.
So instead of making you scroll endlessly through every streaming platform trying to figure out what’s actually worth your time, I’ve picked the six releases I’d be most excited to press play on this week.
Some are comforting.
Some are intense.
Some will quietly ruin your weekend in the best possible way.
So whether you’ve got one free evening or an entire lazy Sunday ahead of you, here’s what’s making my watchlist this week.
📺 Shows
The ones that might accidentally steal your entire weekend.
The East Palace (Netflix)
The “just one episode” trap
K-dramas have a habit of pretending they’re going to be normal.
This one doesn’t even try.
Nam Joo-hyuk plays a man who can move between the world of the living and the dead before being pulled into a royal mystery hidden deep within the spirit world.
Which is already enough to convince me.
Add stunning visuals, supernatural intrigue and the kind of emotional storytelling Korean dramas do so well…
And suddenly “I’ll watch one episode” becomes “How is it already midnight?”
If fantasy thrillers are your thing, this is probably where I’d start this week.
Ride or Die (Prime Video)
The “I just wanted something fun” pick
Some weeks you don’t need emotional devastation.
You just need two ridiculously charismatic people getting themselves into increasingly ridiculous situations.
Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer are exactly that combination.
They’re funny.
They’re effortlessly watchable.
And together they have the kind of chemistry that makes even simple conversations entertaining.
Perfect for weeknights when you want something energetic without needing to emotionally recover afterwards.
Raktanchal – Season 3 (Amazon MX Player)
The “why isn’t everyone talking about this?” pick
Some crime dramas rely on shock value.
Raktanchal relies on atmosphere.
Inspired by the mafia networks of eastern Uttar Pradesh, it continues to deliver grounded storytelling, morally complicated characters and enough tension to keep you hooked.

If you’ve never started the series before, now’s actually the perfect excuse.
🎬 Movies
Perfect when you’ve only got one evening.
Wuthering Heights (JioHotstar)
The “read the book first… seriously” pick
Jacob Elordi.
Margot Robbie.
Emerald Fennell.
Honestly, this film had people’s attention long before it reached streaming.
Visually it’s gorgeous.
Emotionally it’s intense.
And it captures the haunting atmosphere that makes Emily Brontë’s novel unforgettable.
That said…
If you’ve never read the book before, I’d genuinely recommend doing that first.
You’ll appreciate this adaptation so much more.

The Drama (A24)
The “I’m going to be thinking about this tomorrow” pick
If you’re familiar with A24…
You already know this probably isn’t going to be a straightforward romance.
Zendaya and Robert Pattinson play a couple whose relationship changes completely after one revelation.
What follows isn’t just a love story.
It’s a conversation about trust, identity and whether love survives once everything comfortable disappears.
Not a light watch.
Definitely a memorable one.
Heartstopper Forever (Netflix)
The “I’m not crying… you’re crying” pick
Some stories quietly become part of your life.
Heartstopper is one of them.
Watching Nick and Charlie grow over the years has felt less like following fictional characters and more like checking in on old friends.
Now comes the final chapter.
Long-distance.
Growing up.
Learning that love doesn’t magically become easy just because it’s real.
If you’ve followed this story from the beginning…
You’re probably already emotionally preparing yourself.
And if you haven’t…
There’s still time.
Just maybe keep tissues nearby.
You’ll understand later.
✨ Final Thoughts
I love weeks like this.
Not because there are dozens of new releases.
But because there are genuinely different kinds of stories.
Fantasy.
Crime.
Romance.
Friendship.
Psychological drama.
Whatever mood you’re in this weekend, there’s probably something here that’ll fit it.
And honestly…
That’s exactly how a good watchlist should feel.
