There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who say, “Let’s just play one quick game.”
And those who know that sentence is a lie.
Welcome to part 7 of my board game obsession — where friendships are tested, alliances are broken, and someone always says, “Wait, that’s not the rule.”
This week’s lineup? Chaos, speed, survival, and strategy. In short: emotional damage, but make it fun.
1. Ouch!

This one looks cute. Cactus cards. Bright colours. Very innocent vibes.
But don’t be fooled.
You’re picking cards, hoping for flowers, avoiding thorns… and somehow every time I play, I pull pain. It’s quick, it’s simple, and it’s that perfect “let’s warm up” game before things get serious.
Also, it teaches you one thing: trust no cactus.
2. Spot It!

If you think you have sharp observation skills, this game will humble you.
The rules are simple — find the matching symbol faster than everyone else. That’s it. Sounds easy, right?
Wrong.
Suddenly, you can’t see shapes. Your brain stops functioning. And someone across the table is spotting matches like they have superpowers.
It’s fast, loud, slightly chaotic, and way more competitive than it has any right to be.
3. Survive the Island

This is where the sweet energy ends.
You’re trying to get your people off a sinking island while sea monsters, sharks, and your so-called friends ruin your plans. It starts strategically and ends personally.
You will say, “It’s just a game.”
You will not mean it.
It’s dramatic. It’s tense. It’s beautifully evil.
4. Carcassonne

And then we have the calm-but-not-calm game.
You’re building cities, roads, monasteries — very peaceful medieval vibes. But behind that quiet tile placement is silent competition.
Are you expanding your city?
Do you block someone else?
Do you pretend you didn’t just ruin their entire plan?
It’s strategic, satisfying, and slightly passive-aggressive in the best way.
So yes, we started with “one quick game.”
We ended three hours later.
That’s the magic of board games. They look simple. They start off friendly. And then suddenly you’re emotionally invested in cardboard pieces.
And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now let’s be honest… which game has tested your friendships the most?
